JOHN MADDREY
Twenty-four-year-old Charlotte, NC based artist John Maddrey finds himself following his dreams, coming a long way from teaching himself to write and produce music as a teenager in his childhood bedroom.
Maddrey's musical journey led him from humble beginnings on open-mic stages to becoming certified in audio engineering at CPCC at age seventeen, working at Grindhaus Studios (clients including Erykah Badu and Anthony Hamilton) by age eighteen, being awarded two scholarships to the Swannanoa Gathering (Courtesy of Tosco Music) by age nineteen, and playing at countless events and venues in NC including Charlotte Pride 2025 (see above photo), and opening for Charlotte's own Modern Alibi at the Neighborhood Theater in 2024.
Maddrey's self-taught creative and production skills are apparent in all of his musical releases, including his fully self-produced, self-mixed, and self-mastered debut EP “Issues”.
